On Saturday, April 11, 2009, District 5 VFW Warriors Motorcycle Organization, Rocky Russell read comments to a group of Bobby’s friends, family and well-wishers the following appreciation of the loss of a young American hero, Sergeant Robert “Bobby” Clark, Fort Carson, CO, U.S. Army, who was killed by a drunk driver in Canon City, CO on April 8, 2006.

“To everyone gathered here today, thank you, We stand here today to honor a young American hero who has given his all in service to our nation.  Bobby is missed, but not forgotten.

Bobby was born in Fremont, Ohio and joined the Army in 2002.  He spent most of his military career in war zones, serving in Iraq after the invasion, then in Afghanistan.  Bobby is missed, but not forgotten.

He joined the regiment in Iraq in July 2005 as Soldiers prepared for battle in Tal Afar.  During the fighting, Bobby quickly proved himself, leading 23 supply missions into the embattled city.  Bobby is missed, but not forgotten.

 - Everyone, I ask that we take a moment to reflect on the service that SGT Bobby Clark has made on our behalf.

Bobby was one of those leaders that inspired everyone to be their best.  Just being around him made you feel better and motivated you throughout the rest of the day.  Bobby is missed, but not forgotten.

 - I would like everyone to take this moment of silence to pay tribute to our fallen brothers and sisters.

To honor a hero who spent his career with his boots on foreign soil is an honor and a privilege for all of us.  For those who have served, who are serving now and for those that honor our military - we must never forget our fallen heroes.  Bobby is missed, but not forgotten.

 - I would like everyone to take a moment to pray for our active duty Soldiers both OCONUS and CONUS that they, are not forgotten.

We as Americans honor our Veterans of Foreign Wars in a way I believe no other country can compete.  We have holidays, memorials, highways named after our heroes, and common ceremonies as this one today.  To honor a hero is a state of mind – a mindset that our fallen are not forgotten – a mindset that we will always remember – a mindset that even in a small ceremony as today, our friend, our biker buddy and our comrade’s memory will live on.  Bobby’s memory will live on in our hearts and our prayers.  Bobby is missed, but not forgotten.

- In addition, I would like everyone to take a moment and make a special prayer for our local Soldiers who are about ready to deploy once again.

With Bobby’s boots on the ground mentality, he was great to hang out with – what I remember most about Bobby was that he spent his precious time on earth as a VFW volunteer at Post 101 – he brought so much light into the “V” that it was fun to hang out with him and just be around him.  He loved riding his Harley and working as a founder of the VFW Warriors.  Bobby is missed, but not forgotten.

 - I would like to make a commitment that Bobby will always be remembered and forever honored. Bobby is missed, but not forgotten.

AMEN"
